RE: Leveling

If you are using a WD from an older lighter trailer, you may need heavier rated bars. A friend had the same problem when he traded trailers to a new, longer and heavier traler. his bars were rated for 600 lbs (I think) but he needed 800 or 1000.

RE: MDT insurance

Gunship
MDTs and HDT, don't they have to meet certain reqirements to classify as a RV? I was under the inpression that to classify one as a RV, they needed atleast a bed and toilet and possible a dinnung area, or does each State have it's own regulations. I know my F350 can not be consided a RV.

RE: AC/Microwave

My sons popup has a switch on the converter, says battery/AC (I think). His was on battery and the outlets would not work when I plugged the AC power cord in. Had to flip the switch to AC power.

RE: Companion hitch, Came today. I have a question.

The upright mounts can be adjusted up and down as well as forward and backward. I have mine set up pretty much centered, and have not had any problems. I now have a new fifth wheel and have only pulled it about 10 miles from dealer to the lake, and the setup seems ok for it also.
If your not sure where to set it, start with the center settings and then adjust it for your truck.

RE: Dumb question 142 - Electrical cord and hose storage

I use the CordPro units also. I have a 25 ft 30 amp extention cord on one, a couple with 15 amp extetion cords, and one for a water hose. I think that since my new fifth whell is 50 amp I will see if the XL will hold the 50 amp umbilica cord.

RE: Barker Tote along Black/Grey water

I use the Barker, The tank seems thicker than the Thedford. It also has larger rear wheels, and a heavier tow handle (four wheel model) I use mine for gray and black water, I can't think of a good reason not to, since I always refill with clear water and drain it before I put it up. Besides I parked at the lake all summer, I don't want to have to break camp to just dump the black water.

RE: Black Tank Repair - Plastic Welder

I fixed my old class C black water tank with the 2 part epoxy that come in the plunger type tubes. I use the 5 minute type (Wal-mart has it in the paint area with all the glues). Mix it up and use a flat stick (popcycle or tounge depressor. It is still holding after 5 years. I have also used the JB weld putty to fix larger holes.

RE: Heartland Bighorn

We just purchased a Bighorn 3670RL and love it. We've had a couple of small problems, and one being worked on, but nothing major. We did our research on the price, be checking the Heartland Dealers area on their website, and calling to see if they had the model we wanted and their lowest price. I had to dealers pricing when I went to deal with our local dealer. The first offer was a "good deal" they said. Well I showed them the prices on the other two. Salesman went back to the Fiance Mgr. I told DW be ready to walk if it isn't close. Well they surprised us, and beat both of the other dealers by about $4K. They dropped the price about $10K with our trade in. So the moral is do your homework, have proof of other deals in hand and be ready to walk if the second offer isn't right.

RE: Rear AC Problems, need your help

Whe the unit is running I get good stream of water running off the corner. So pitch is ok.
Why medium fan speed?
Also read last part of post, there is something else wrong somewhere.

Rear AC Problems, need your help

We have owned our new Bighorn 3670RL for about 2 weeks now, and have been having problems with the rear 15K unit.
The dealer is coming out Friday to look at it, but since this is my first 15K unit with a wall mounted thermostat control, I have a few questions.
Here's the problems
Water dripping inside. Thermostat set to AC, auto (or on either way it drips), fan HI, and about 75 degrees. Drain hole is clean looking from outside unit. Also when raining NO drips from unit, so seal should be ok.
They say this unit has a freeze sensor, that may have come loose.
ok that may be one problem.
Now when I turn the thermostat to the off position, fan to auto and slide the temp all the way up, the unit will still cycle on and off. I finally shut the breaker off to keep the unit from running.
The front AC a 13k unit was installed at dealer, is working great.
now the questions
What would cause the the unit to cycle off/on with thermostat set to off? Is it the AC unit or the thermostat that could be causing the problem?

RE: 75psi wasn't enough

I agree with CTD your rear tires or rims are too wide, or the spacing off set of the rims are not correct.

RE: RV Drinking Water Closet!

Instead of the bottled water install a under sink filter that is NSF certified, and add a filtered water faucet next to the kitchen faucet. It will pay you back with the savings from buy all those bottles and you won't have to mess with the 5 gallon bottles (also saves weight)
I had a NSF filter on my old fifth wheel and will be adding one to my new one once the faucet arrives.
Yes I will still drink out of my garden hose, but some cities water supplies just aren't that good whether is taste or smell.
I work in Kansas City MO. and can't drink the water there with out bothering my stomach, so I refill bottle at home and take them to work.

RE: Hany electic scooter for a campground

I can't say what the feds do, but Kansas State parks require that any scooted or cart must be tagged and insured (street legal)to be used in the campgrounds.

RE: Phone Line Connected to Sat Receiver

I have 3 dish recievers at home and none of them are connected to a phone line and haven't been since they were installed several years ago. My daughter has had her receiver unplugged for a year while she was away at school, I plugged it in the other day and had to call dish to have then resend the codes (or what ever they do)to get the unit to receive the station info. They never once asked if I was connected to phone line. (Maybe I will check my bill to verify I paying the $5 fee.) I don't have a land line phone at the house anymore, we use a cell phone for the home phone, it saves me about $35 a month from what Sprint/Embarq was charging us for a phone that maybe rang twice a month.
I will be moving my daughters receiver out to the fifth wheel this week, and they won't know the difference.

RE: Awning Won't Latch

I have found that sometimes when parked on uneven ground that this will happen. I usually will raise the arm up a little to get it to lock in. Another way is to get up on a flat area, and reroll up the awning.
